Coastal Roots Planting 2010 in Montegut, LA!

We had a great time yesterday in Montegut! Over 400 of our Bald Cypress and Swamp Red Maple trees were planted. Special thanks to our STM teachers, Pam Blanchard from LSU, Christina Kogos from Voice of the Wetlands, and Shane Granier and his Wildlife and Fisheries crew! More pictures will be posted soon! Read the comments under this post to hear more from our students.

Planting was so much fun! I liked how we used the GPS to track our plants. Now, we can go back and see the plants that we planted. I loved the hay ride to and from the planting site.

I had fun on the planting trip but I thoughtit would be more fun. I didn't expect it to be as cold when it was rescheduled. I also liked Mr. Linds idea of going back to see them again next year.

I loved doing this! It was so much fun going out and planting the trees. I wish we could have stayed longer and planted more tress, but we still got a lot done in the time we had.

The trip to Motegut, La was fun. We planted bald cypress and red maple trees. We used these trees to preserve and protect our wetlands. This was a fun and enjoyable experience that I will always remember.

I think planting trees was so much fun! I enjoyed planting trees and saving the coast! I think we got much accomplished and I'm glad that we could help. I can't wait to see how our trees grew in a year!

I thought that planting all those trees was a lot of fun. My favorite part though was knowing that we can go back next year and check on them thanks to GPS. I also liked knowing that we were doing something great for the environment, one tree at a time.

I had a good time planting the cypress/maple trees in Montegut, LA (wetlands). It was really cool how we used the GPS system to track the latitude and longitude for our trees.

I had a good time planting and realized how much a small project like ours can make a huge difference! I also think it would be cool to visit the trees next year and see how they have grown.

Planting trees was so much fun! I am exited to go back next year and check on the trees we just planted. Also, I am glad that our school is helping save the wetlands from dissapearing. It was really fun and I can't wait for next year.

Planting trees was so much fun! The trip was very fun except for the cold weather, but other than that it was great. I will enjoy going next year and checking on the trees so that we can see if they grew over the summer.I liked the trip alot and can't wait till next year.

Helping the wetlands seemed hard to do, but after planting I realized that it was easy when we all helped. More and more people are continuing to help the wetlands and the enviroment in multiple ways. I am glad that I was one of those people.

I thought that the trip was going to be knee-deep in mud, but it seems that it was quite dry that day. I would have liked the trip either way. It would be cool to go again next year.
