Seed Planting Day!!

Today we planted our Cypress Seeds! Click on the comments to read what the students did today!

Coastal Roots - Introduction

This is the first year that St. Martin's will take part in the Coastal Roots program that was begun in 2001 by professors at LSU. Our 6th grade students will plant seeds in the Spring of each year and then venture out into the wetlands of Bayou Segnette as 7th graders in the Fall and and plant Bald Cypress Trees. Bayou Segnette was one of many locations in the area that sustained much damage during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This service project helps to impress upon our students the importance and beauty of Louisiana's wetlands.
